How we use mixed reality to support design and manufacture reviews..
We use 2 alternative mixed reality programs for our design & manufacture reviews.. the first is a simple AR model that can be ‘point & shoot” directly from an iOS device. I find these useful for understanding scale and giving our clients an immediate impression of the space, being able to walk around it… but less so for finer details as only block colours are any good at standing out in the light.
Second we use is the Microsoft HoloLens. This is a truly mixed reality experience which along with the software, allows us and our clients to manipulate scale models; open close, hide & unhide different components within their space. As this is mixed reality you also get the added benefit of seeing the outside world.. So this is especially great for in-situ viewing with our clients. Below you’ll get a glimpse of the HoloLens on our self builders project “kripa” due completion early 2025. In this snippet we are running through their bespoke kitchen in mixed reality, talking details.
If you’d like to see what it’s like through the headset.. here’s my first look through the hololens.. the first look that kicked this all off!
Aside from mixed reality we also provide virtual reality walk throughs that can be viewed within a headset or walk around via a web browser. Below is a render video, produced in house from our sketchup design files.
